  3. Blah blah blah....another pompous liberal elite from East Hampton complaining that she doesn't like light interfering with her view of her night sky at her posh East Hampton energy hog huge home!

  4. Oh my Susan Harder doesn't want light to bleeding into the night sky messing up her view from her very large, energy hog East Hampton home. Another liberal elite with nothing to do and picking up a worthless cause. Gee, does anyone know Susan is selling her own brand of outdoor lights?

  5. I'm behind you Susan. I live in Texas where there are a lot of cities which have adopted ordinances for lighting. There is a lot of work to be done. I don't know why we are paying so much to illuminate the bottom of clouds and birds. BRING BACK THE NIGHT SKY by using better lighting and lighting fixtures.

  6. Umm... if you don't mind, I believe I'll pass on the admonishment about squandering resources by someone living in an vastly oversized house in the Hamptons -

  7. Way to GO Susan!!
The feedback I've heard in my town, Chicago, is simply that not enough people are calling up to request smarter lighting... but instead are putting in way more requests to make the night look like day. Also, I know it can be pretty awkward trying convince neighbors to keep their watts out of my bedroom (you don't need to live in a glass house to have THAT problem).
C'mon folks... pick up the phone and tell 'em

  9. Thank you for the work you are doing, Susan. This is a wonderfully descriptive and informative video about what the dark sky movement is all about, how we all benefit and how easy it is to comply and help recreate the night sky many of us knew as children.

It's truly sad that only 1/3 of all Americans can actually see the milky way anymore. Let's turn that around!

  10. Thanks for bringing this issue up. Light pollution is a real problem here in Nassau county. The cobra-head style streetlights are the worst. Oyster Bay started using them on some roads instead of LPS like they used to. Laws need to be passed mandating replacing cobra-head and other bad streetlights with full-cut off fixtures that put light on the ground and nowhere else. On the health angle I get headaches from the excessive/improper streetlighting..and that sickly pink color.
