Thanks a lot for the review! :) The funny thing is that the external mic your using sounds worse than the internal one though...the internal one sounded much more clear.
ReplyDeleteYou may not have a computer with a fast enough processor. Be sure you are playing the file from the computer. (copied off the camera) playing from the camera can be slow. You could upload a test to youtube and see if youtube plays it correctly. if so, you may just need a faster computer. hope this helps
ReplyDeleteI have the plane black and when it goes on media movie player the sound starts before the real footage can you please respond back to me
ReplyDeletethey sell a 2 hr one now
ReplyDelete4GB how long is that? Is that about an 1 hour recording
ReplyDeleteThanks for the informative and fun vid. I just ordered this camera after hours and hours of research, because I need decent low-light function and decent audio, and I read good reviews for both from this one. I also like that it has at least 2x optical zoom, files can be edited with Movie Maker, has the wide angle shot, and... a couple of other things I can't recall.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that the built-in audio is better than mic audio.
Seems every budget cam has its pros & cons. Hope I like it!
just use movie maker hd plugins (search in google)
ReplyDeletevery nice review
ReplyDeleteI have both the Zi8 and the Vado. The Zi8 is a much better camera, in both audio and video- and the fact that it has macro mode is impressive. With that being said, the Vado has a nice wide angle and the size alone makes it worth having. The video quality isn't that bad. I use the Zi8 for primary video and the Vado for everything else. Both are great cameras for the price.
ReplyDeleteNice review. I am looking to buy this. I think the white noise is probably from the microphone you are using. My father records radio and it recorded noise, I changed the microphone wire to a thicker different brand and the noise went away. I would guess this could be the problem here. Plus there was no noise under other situations using the Vado.
ReplyDeleteinteresting question. well... since the zi8 is discontinued, and crazy overpriced even used.. I'm not sure it's a good option to compare. but if i did, i'd say the zi8 seems to give a better video and audio recording for general purposes. BUT this camera works much better as a handheld (vlog style) camera where the zi8 doesn't look focused at arms length.
ReplyDeletehow do you feel it sacks up against the Zi8?
ReplyDeleteGood Video. Sounds like white noise. Could be from the adapter. Maybe Magic Lantern can take care of it, or post production editing. I have a Kodak Playsport Zx5 that I'll have to test out.
ReplyDeletedo you have to use the stereo adapter
ReplyDeleteoh good because they are out of chargers on amazon
ReplyDeleteyep
ReplyDeletecan you charge it on your laptop
ReplyDelete"Compared to a bear head" hahahaha, I hear that is the standard for measurement now!
ReplyDeletei have an older version. the vado is pretty nice for making quick vids that don't need to be too polished. But it does not give you much control, like a dslr would.
ReplyDeleteThe video and audio on it sounds pretty good for vlogging.
ReplyDeleteI might look into this camera after my flip camera dies (I secretly hate my flip camera).
Only downside, is the classic handheld video camera shaky footage.
I really need to learn how to make one of those DIY steadicams for handhelds.
CMOS jello fun :P
ReplyDeleteit seems like the built in mic sounds clearer than the lapel
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice little camera :P Great video
ReplyDeleteI was satisfied with the Zi6, but I see you have the Zi8 which offers a mic input, which would be a nice feature. The one thing I didn't like about the Zi6 is that it doesn't have any image stabilization and handheld shots can get pretty jittery, which it appears in this video the Vado has the same issues. So how about a suggestion for price verses quality and features, there's an idea for a Quick FX!
ReplyDeleteOkay, Knop, not to put you on the spot, but I see you like these little inexpensive cameras, so how about a recommendation. I had a Kodak Zi6, which worked pretty good for that quick family vid and even an extra stationary camera for a wide shot of an event. It was small and easy to carry and took a decent picture, which is really what I want. Anyway, the kids must have dropped it 'cause now "it don't work anymoe." So what would you suggest?
ReplyDeleteTalk faster.
