Saints Row 2 PC Graphics Comparison Video - outdoor lighting
Saints Row 2 PC Graphics Comparison Video
Captured using FRAPS, I went ahead and compiled gameplay footage I took in Saint's Row 2 using both Highest settings then Lowest settings, added some notes about the framerates I get in each situation, and posted it here on YouTube. From the PC Version of Saints Row 2 Game Display Settings: Ambient Occlusion: Changes ambient lighting passes, adjusts ambient brightness and colors (off, simple, all). Off: No ambient occlusion passes. Simple: Only outdoor ambient occlusion passes are made. All: Outdoor and indoor ambient occlusion passes are made. Motion Blur: Adds blurring effects when rotating and moving the camera. Shadows: Changes the size of shadow maps (off, simple, all). Affects dynamic object shadows: character shadows, vehicle shadows, tree shadows, bench, chair, table shadows, etcetera. HDR: High Dynamic Range. Alters color vibrancy and darkness. Also adds a 'glow' effect to the screen. Dynamic Lighting: Changes rendering lighting passes in the game world (off, simple, all). Off: No dynamic lighting enabled; no shadows. Simple: Dynamic lights are enabled only when outside. All: Dynamic lights are enabled both outside and inside. NOTE: With Dynamic Lighting set to Off, all shadows will be disabled, even if the actual "Shadows" display setting is enabled. If I remember right, it's because there weren't any others on YouTube at the time--or at least, none that gave details about the differences in quality/speed. I put the FPS numbers in the video, and gave explanations as to why those numbers were what they were at.
ReplyDeleteDo a YouTube search for "Saints row 2 graphics", and my video should be the first one that comes up. That pretty much sums it up.
Well, that's understandable.
ReplyDeleteBut if you know that your video-recording quality is going to be low, then why did you make a "Graphic comparison" video in the first place?
And even though I had a computer capable of running SR2 (amazing in itself), it wasn't good enough to simultaneously play and record it at good quality. So of course it looks like it was recorded with a starchy, tuberous crop from the perennial Solanum tuberosum of the Solanaceae family.
ReplyDeleteI'm not like other video uploaders--if you leave snarky comments, I'mma be snarky right back! In a cheerful and jovial way of course }:D
Hey hey hey, woah, slow down there.
ReplyDeleteWe're talking about videogames, right?
In 2009 i had a computer, but it didn't even have Internet.
Sure they were. In 2009, Mount Redoubt (a volcano in Alaska) began erupting after a prolonged period of unrest. Also, until 2009, same-sex marriage wasn't legalized in Sweden--and in 2009, General Motors filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.
ReplyDeleteOh, and my computer sucked and I was still new to making YouTube videos.
No, they weren't.
ReplyDeleteThings were a lot different in 2009.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't make much sense to put graphic settings at maximum, and then record them with a potato...
ReplyDeleteThat's my recommendation! SR2 'feels' better to me, but SR3 is still a blast, especially if you've got a co-op buddy.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you end up doing though, I hope you have lots of fun!
Yea, haha i just bought it for shits and giggles because it was only 3 dollars on steam for the weekend, my friend has a very similar pc to me but he only has 4 gigs of ram and i have 6 and his cpu is only at 3.0 ghz and mine is a 3.3 GHz and he runs saint row the third fine at max setting getting 50 plus fps :P I guess i will try and get it soon ;D
ReplyDeleteHeh, a little behind in the times, aren't you?
ReplyDeleteYou could find out most of this with a little Google research, but I'll sum up: this game was made for consoles; XBOX and such. The developer of the game outsourced the PC version to another company who screwed it bad. As a result, this game does NOT run good on ANY computer. Period. End of discussion. Besides that, the game caps its fps at 30 or 60 or something, even with vsync off. Try Saints Row The Third instead.
fuck dude help, i just got this game and i have a HD 6770 with a Phenom x4 3.3 GHz and it runs like shitt! Like i get 30 fps on medium to max setting! HELP PLEASE? Cuz i get 80 plus fps on mw3 on max setting and idk w hat the fuck is going on !
ReplyDeleteNo idea broham--this video is pretty old, and with Saints Row: The Third out, I'm not sure which you'd find better (or more popular at least).
ReplyDeleteSaints Row: The Third is actually optimized much better than Saints Row 2. It runs better on computers--almost to the point where you'll have better performance playing Saints Row: The Third than you would playing Saints Row 2.
Saints Row 2 needs a very good processor, and a very good hard-drive more than anything else however.
can be played on sapphire radeon x700xt????????????? help
ReplyDelete@DefectedSaIvation Hm, sorry to hear that.
ReplyDeleteJust finished Saints Row The Third myself, and I'd rate it pretty high. SR3 is a wonderful game if you're looking to get away from the standard run-and-gun first person shooter cliches--it brings hilarity, insanity, and joy all in one package. The story is a bit short, there are some odd choices made, and the game seems to lack re-playability, but if you want senseless enjoyment, SR3 certainly delivers.
Batman looks really good though--getting it now.
@DefectedSaIvation so you have 2 GTX 580's and it laggs jeez.... what do you need to play this game well... a supercomputer?!??
ReplyDelete@DefectedSaIvation NO! DON'T YOU DARE. YOU WILL BUY SR3 AND YOU WILL ENJOY IT!
ReplyDeleteBecause With Saints Row 2, Volition OUTSOURCED the PC port.
With Saints Row The Third, Volition is working on the PC version themselves. DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE MY SON...but you might watch some gameplay videos after SR3 is released, just to make sure it won't be as bad performance wise. I'm confident though.
i dont understand this game i have e geforce 9600 gt 1 GIG and it even lags on low ?? and the weird thing is that i can perfectly run dead island and mafia 2 XD
ReplyDeleteFor PC the game play is ok but the performance is terrible.
ReplyDeletemy graphics low and stile laging what can i do for this
ReplyDeletegta 4 has excellent graphics that are unbelevable, and Crysis has AMAZING 5 star graphics
ReplyDeletesuuuure.... it's good on console but not pc, even 2x 8800gtx can't run this without problems...
ReplyDeleteGroovy call, Jewpiles. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeletePlaces liek gamershell and filefront, fileplanet, etc., have an unofficial, fan-made patch that fixes bugs liek rocket glitches, proper (and more) resolutions, MUCH better performance, and control tweaks. And it's only a few MB.
ReplyDeleteOverall, it runs great with taht aptch on my 3.6ghz Q9550, 4gb DDR2, adn 1gb 5870, but the framerates are all over teh place. At times i;ll get 17fps in a store then go outside and get 50fps.
But it's pretty fun, so yay.
