Those who are using a DSLR instead of a point and shoot, don't forget to use smaller aperture like f/5.6 or f/6.3 depending on the light. When you keep the faces close they'll fall on the same focus plane and you'll them all in focus. Creating a symmetry also helps but those standing behind the focused area would come out softer. I can write a lot more but YouTube has limited character space. Anyway... hope this helps.

  4. You dumb ass, a prime lens means that the focal length is fixed. For e.g. if its a 50mm prime, you will not be able to zoom with it (The focal length is fixed at 50mm), however, you will be able to control the aperture (i.e. depth of field) with it.

  5. I can Zoom In with Canon 24-70mm and its a prime.

  7. To the person below me.
You can't zoom in with a prime lens.
And what zooming in really does is give shallower depth of field create a nice blur in the background but still leaving the faces in focus and sharp with detail.

  8. I kinda thought it was better to step into to a group shot or portrait rather than zoom in, like if you're using a prime lens, which produces sharper images

  9. I don't see how the UK accent has any sense in that comment. Oh by the way he is just very well spoken with an English accent...UK counts as 3 countries ... try getting that right. You can't say that is wrong as I'm British, English to be precise. And Rankin is an amazing photographer yet appears on TV shows. Look online at his work...John Rankin (British photographer). Everyone just does what they can for money & if someone wants to be on tv and enjoy art just leave them be...

  10. Nigel barker is also not a well known name in photography, any one with any belief in what they do as a photographer ( painting with light) does not appear on tv shows or adverts. So many great PHOTOGRAPHERS out there to learn from and be inspired by this guy is just that media face with a UK accent. Half my friends have a greater understanding of photography and creating imagery

  11. America's next top blagger! And he's from my country sorry USA . Sorry but his fame has over shadowed the lack of creativity and tech knowledge in lighting I'm sure that was the agenda to start with. I have no problems in saying this as I'd take the pepsi challenge with him any day with imagery. I'm not insecure or jealous i just know how the emperors new clothes are sold in this business and can I point out this fella is more than naked

  13. This is just mass advertising that has been reported.
Every series is about a sony camera, the titles are misleading people
    into watching adverts

  14. yeah, maybe, but I find it more appealing if Mr. Nigel Barker is telling me, Im not a good listener, not even with my photography teacher, but with Nigel all makes sense, anyway I use Nikon, but started with Sony.

  15. these videos are really lame. How about giving professional level advice instead of telling people to use a pop up flash on their point and shoot.

  16. really? its just advertising for sony. no real tips here. much better youtube vids out there for real tips

  24. just unsubscribed cos of the pluggind sony ... sry but dslr wise they not up to scratch yet and the lower ranges are nice but i want tip[s not plugs from pr guys responding most of the shots are taken with not the camera shown but a much higher spec set-up including off camera flashes which misleads the whole tutorial and raises expectations os the genuine buyer only to be ruined .... when it NOT their fault
